5 Days Until Launch – Flyers Out Now!

The flyer distribution has officially begun. A signifier of which is the bubbles of blisters surfacing on the backs of our ankles. It is safe to say we underestimated the size of this town and overestimated our ability to deliver a town’s worth of flyers. Our merry volunteers have hit Loughton, Shenley Church End, Fullers Slade, CMK, the MK hospital, and the high streets of Bletchley and Stony Stratford so far this week. Next on the list is Oldbrook, Crownhill, Stantonbury, Netherfield, Peartree Bridge and Great Linford. Suddenly, we have a new found respect for the postmen and logistics industry altogether.

People within the community have been kind. Charity shops, local co-ops, tattoo studios and pubs have accepted our flyers. We found notice boards to pin posters to and managed to slip some in the plastic dispensers around the shopping centre. Huge shout out to CMK library for taking 8 posters to distribute to the Milton Keynes Libraries internally. It was a kind gesture that we here at Mind Space appreciate as it saves us previous fuel and time. Also, a big thank you to those staff at the hospital who helped us promote our new service.

What’s more amusing is further from the IT technical difficulties of last week, Mind Space MK experienced some printing troubles this week. Some of our branded blue and grey flyers have been posted under a more sunset-coloured theme of orange and pink. This was completely accidental and a beautiful coincidence as our printer began to run out of ink halfway through the job. Thanks to some lovely supporting friend, more flyers have been printed free of charge for delivery tomorrow. At least by the end of this advertising, we’ll have calf muscles of steel and lungs like no other.

One interesting topic of discussion throughout our delivery-service was the stereotype of our target audience. For instance, would we judge certain houses for our ‘one, two, skip a few’ rule to save on costs, flyers and the environment in general by assuming the clean-cut four by four in the driveway is an indicator of good mental health? Many invisible illnesses have frivolous spending as a side effect or symptom (for example, some bi-polar sufferers spend more during times of mania). Either way, it’s interesting to see how these representations in our head affect the small decisions we make.

The point being, we don’t discriminate. We may have these chats and musings but, in the end, we’ll shove the leaflets in whichever letterbox looks like it won’t chop our fingers off. Hopefully, some of you by now have been our little advertisements popping up around town in the local shops or at the pub. If not, I’m sure throughout this week you’ll come across one or two as we have many walks planned to maximise the efficiency of the routes available.

If anybody wants to volunteer post or print some of our leaflets, please e-mail mindspacemk@gmail.com or either phone number on the contact page… we wouldn’t turn down a helping hand! Or just go ahead and screen grab the flyer in this post.

Don’t forget, one week until launch.

Please let us know if the problem persists and we will contact our IT department to resolve it.

  2. Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless imagine if you added some great visuals
or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent
but with images and videos, this blog could undeniably be one of the greatest in its field.
    Great blog!
