The Sales team at LSH Auto’s Mercedes-Benz of Stockport dealership have raised over £700 for men’s health awareness in their annual ‘Movember’ fundraising event, doubling their target of £300.
The Movember scheme encourages men to grow moustaches during November to raise money and awareness for men’s mental and physical health.
The four participants, Rick Marsland, Marcus Caruso, Mark Davies and Darren Halsall, all shaved clean on Halloween. The men persevered until the end of the month with one handlebar tache and a faithful recreation of Errol Flynn’s pencil masterpiece by Marcus.
After raising £275 in 20198, the team set a target of £300 for 2019’s Movember fundraising. After a couple of weeks it looked like the team may fall short, however, with sponsorship from family, friends and many peers within the business, plus a dress-down day and fundraising auction on the 29th November, the team hit £300 with relative ease and eventually raised a total of £732.
Rick Marsland commented:
It’s great to be able to contribute to this fantastic fundraiser, as I lost a friend to suicide due to an undiagnosed mental health issue. If one life is saved thanks to our efforts at Stockport, our job is done!” Marcus agreed, saying “I’m proud to be a part of the team here at Stockport, and we made a great effort to get involved in this worthy cause!”
The team are already working on next year’s Movember fundraising where they hope to recruit more people to the team and hit at least £1000, and with some ideas about sponsored events outside working time to boost the funds of this charity.
